😍 Inheriting the Legacy of Australian Cult Winery Giaconda — Crafted by a Master Winemaker 😍
✨ Certified with 95 Points by James Suckling ✨

Region: Beechworth, Victoria
Variety: Chardonnay

About the Wine
Beechworth is situated at the foothills of the Australian Alps in northeastern Victoria, encircled by granite hills and sun-drenched valleys. Despite its boutique size, this hidden gem of Australian wine country consistently produces wines of exceptional caliber.

Domenica is a boutique estate located in Beechworth, founded by winemaker Peter Graham. Peter served as assistant winemaker for 13 years at the legendary cult winery Giaconda (he is also the nephew of Giaconda's founder). The estate is renowned for its cool, high-altitude climate, granite slopes, and low-intervention winemaking philosophy. The vineyard was initially planted in 1996 as a partnership between Peter and Rhône legend Michel Chapoutier. In 2012, Peter assumed sole ownership and management of the estate and vineyards, marking the official establishment of Domenica.

Vinification
Grapes were hand-harvested by specific parcel and clonal selection. After pressing, the juice was chilled in stainless steel tanks before being transferred to oak casks for wild yeast fermentation. The wine matured for 12 months in 600-liter Austrian oak casks and 228-liter French barriques (20% new oak in the final blend). Malolactic fermentation was inhibited to preserve the wine's vibrant, pristine acidity.

Tasting Notes
Opens with delicate aromas of acacia blossom and white florals, layered with white nectarine, grapefruit, and a subtle touch of fresh ginger. The palate reveals striking minerality framed by precise, lingering acidity, distinctly reflecting its granite terroir. Gentle toasting from the large-format casks lends depth and texture across the mid-palate, leading into a long, pure, and breathtaking fruit finish.

Pairing Suggestions
Pan-seared halibut, creamy seafood pasta, or chicken Caesar salad.

Accolades & Scores
2024 James Suckling – 95 points ('23)
2024 James Halliday – 95 points ('23)
2023 James Suckling – 95 points ('22)
