Founded by Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky and founder of Nikka Whisky, the Yoichi Distillery was established in the severe northern climate discovered by Masataka Taketsuru during his prime years — a land embraced by the sea breeze. At this distillery, rich and powerful Yoichi Single Malt is crafted using the exceptionally rare traditional direct coal-fired distillation method, then further matured to deepen its character.<br/><br/>The whisky reveals woody and sweet oak aromas, fruit notes reminiscent of ripe banana, and a bold, complex malt character. On the palate, fruity pear-like flavors intertwine with smoky peat reminiscent of smoked foods. Its rich body, robust depth, and roasted peat notes harmonize beautifully, leading to a long and memorable finish.
