TAIPEI, TAIWAN — What happens when coffee is brewed without a paper filter?
At this year’s International Coffee Exhibition, cerapotta, the Japanese porous ceramic coffee filter, will take center stage with a special live brewing demonstration led by its founder. The event invites coffee professionals, enthusiasts, and international buyers to discover a different approach to coffee brewing—one rooted in Japanese ceramic craftsmanship and thoughtful design.
Rethinking the Role of the Coffee Filter
Unlike conventional brewing methods that rely on disposable paper filters, cerapotta uses a porous ceramic filter with microscopic pores measuring approximately 5 micrometers. The ceramic structure filters impurities while allowing the natural character of the beverage to come through.
More than simply replacing paper, cerapotta changes the relationship between the brewer and the brewing process.
Pouring technique can be adjusted to create different flavor expressions, allowing users to explore lighter or deeper profiles according to their preferences.
The result is a brewing experience that places greater emphasis on the interaction between water, coffee, ceramic, and technique.
Japanese Craftsmanship Meets Modern Coffee Culture
At the heart of cerapotta is the combination of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and modern technology.
The product is associated with the long-established ceramic tradition of Hasami porcelain in Nagasaki, where porcelain production has continued for approximately 400 years. cerapotta brings this heritage into contemporary coffee brewing, with forming, drying, and firing processes carried out by artisans.
The ceramic itself becomes part of the brewing experience—not only as a functional filter, but also as an object that reflects Japanese attention to material, texture, and simplicity.
Meet the Founder and Experience the Brew Live
The highlight of the exhibition will be a live brewing demonstration by the founder of cerapotta.
Rather than simply introducing the product, the demonstration will reveal how the porous ceramic filter works in practice and how brewing technique can influence the final cup.
Visitors will have the opportunity to:
- See how cerapotta is used without a paper filter
- Observe the brewing process and pouring technique
- Experience the character of coffee brewed through porous ceramic
- Learn about the philosophy behind cerapotta’s design
- Discover the craftsmanship and technology behind the filter
For coffee professionals and international buyers, the live demonstration also offers an opportunity to explore how a distinctive brewing concept can create new possibilities for specialty coffee experiences.
A More Sustainable Approach to Everyday Brewing
Designed for repeated use, cerapotta offers an alternative to disposable paper filters and can help reduce brewing waste. The filter is also designed for easy maintenance and can be rinsed after use, with additional maintenance possible when necessary.
Its reusable design reflects cerapotta’s broader philosophy: creating a functional coffee tool that can become part of everyday life while respecting the materials and craftsmanship behind it.
Discover a Different Way to Experience Coffee
For cerapotta, innovation does not always mean adding more complexity.
Sometimes, it means looking at something familiar—a coffee filter—and asking a different question.
What if the filter itself could become part of the brewing experience?
At the International Coffee Exhibition, cerapotta invites visitors to see the craft, experience the brew, and discover how Japanese porous ceramic can open a new perspective on coffee brewing.
