The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has pledged to provide 36.8 million Euro in grant aid to Cambodia for the 2017-2018 period.

This financial promise was made known here in the Negotiations on Development Cooperation between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Federal German Government, in Phnom Penh on April 4-5, 2017, according to the Council for the Development of Cambodia.

The meeting was chaired by H.E. Chheang Yanara, Delegate Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary General of Cambodian Rehabilitation and Development Board (CRDB) and H.E. Klaus Supp, Head of the Division China, Central Asia, East Asia, Laos and Cambodia in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and H.E Ingo Karsten, Ambassador of Germany to Cambodia.

The amount of grant aid, of which 16 million Euro will be for financial cooperation and 20.8 million Euro for technical cooperation, will be used to carry out the joint projects and programmes between the two governments under the European Development Cooperation Strategy for Cambodia.

This financial support does not include the financing provided by Germany to Cambodia through regional and global projects or international financial institutions, UN and EU.
