MTG 2017 to Present Total Production Solutions for Myanmar Textile & Garment Players

The 6th edition of Myanmar International Textile & Garment Industry Exhibition (MTG 2017) will run December 8-11 at Myanmar Event Park (MEP) at Mindama, Yangon, a brand new venue with convenient location just 3km from the Yangon International airport.

The event is organized by Yorkers Trade & Marketing Service Co., Ltd. (YORKERS), and co-organized by Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA). It has also won robust supports from both local and overseas associations, including Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry (U.M.F.C.C.I.), Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), and Taiwan Sewing Machinery Association (TSMA).

CMP Garment-- Myanmar’s Promising Industrial Sector

Myanmar’s economic prospects are getting bright along with the nation’s political reform of advancing from military rule to democracy. International brands and retailers, including H&M and Primark, have started to source their products from Myanmar as economic sanctions on the country have been lifted following its first step toward democracy. The export-oriented garment industry is benefiting from these new opportunities and expanding rapidly. According to statistics released by The Republic of The Union of Myanmar Ministry of Information, Myanmar has scored over US$1.6 billion from Cut-Make-Pack (CMP) garment exports in the first 11 months of 2017 fiscal year, for a sharp increase of US$1 billion over the same period of a year earlier. The CMP garment sector plays a significant role in contributing to Myanmar’s economic development, as it ranks as the country’s third largest export category.  

As a major driver behind the growth of Myanmar’s garment industry, the MTG has been well recognized by many renowned international brands as a very useful conduit for tapping into the booming Myanmar market. This year, over 7,000m2 exhibition space are used to house 350 exhibitors from 13 countries and regions, namely Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Vietnam. The strong presence of foreign exhibitors underscores the high internationalization of this mega event.

MTG is mainly designed to meet the increasingly strong demand for new machinery equipment and fabrics by the CMP garment makers in Myanmar to drive their continued export growth. This year, the show will witness many notable advanced machines supplied by renowned international makers.
