Two top Swedish firms have offered to work for the development of Bangladesh's power and readymade garment sectors.
Representatives of Investor AB and ABB Sweden expressed their interests in the sectors during meetings with Prime Minister Hasina at Grand Hotel in Stockholm on Friday, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told the media.
Investor AB Chairman Jacob Wallenberg and Vice-Chairperson Marcus Wallenberg, and ABB Sweden CEO Johan Söderström praised Hasina for Bangladesh's socio-economic development under her leadership.
Swedish retail chain H&M CEO Karl-Johan Persson met the prime minister earlier.
The famous Swedish brand imports $5 billion worth of readymade garments from Bangladesh annually.
The prime minister informed Persson of the measures taken by her government to develop the RMG sector.
She urged the clothing buyers to raise product prices, saying it will benefit the workers, said Karim.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, PMO Secretary Suriya Begum, Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque, Bangladesh Ambassador Golam Sarwar, Swedish Ambassador Johan Frisell, FBCCI President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, and BGMEA President Siddiqur Rahman were also present in the meetings.

She met her Swedish counterpart Stefan Lofven and King Carl XVI Gustaf on Thursday.
A joint communique was issued on the outcome of the visit in which the two sides highlighted a new beginning of better relations.
