On June 6, the European Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar has the honour of organising the second edition of the annual Myanmar-EU Economic Forum in Nay Pyi Taw, the capital city. 

Why is this event so important? The forum provides a platform for business leaders and policy makers from the Union of Myanmar and Europe to interact and debate key business and trade issues.

Over 400 guests are expected to attend, representing political and business interests from Europe and Myanmar. Last year the forum was opened by the Vice President U Myint Swe and then-EU ambassador Roland Kobia. It proves to be a great event for businesses to meet and share knowledge on how to improve the business climate and attract more investments. The panels will include leading private sector representatives, high-level government officials and key experts from international organisations and leading academics. 

This unique VIP gathering will provide visitors with an overview of the economic transition of Myanmar; the latest affairs on corporate social responsibility, bilateral trade and investment and discuss key issues in various sectors. Industries we will touch upon include energy, construction, health, logistics, digital innovation, anti-illicit trade, legal affairs, agro-business and garment sectors.

European trade and investment supports environmentally sustainable economic growth  and inclusive social development; By encouraging sustainable livelihoods and decent working conditions, European trade creates market access to often marginalised producers and workers.

Participation to the second Myanmar-EU Economic Forum will provide companies and officials with an important platform to ensure their concerns and key messages presented in the EuroCham WhiteBook 2018 are heard by policy-makers, officials and ministers – from Europe and Myanmar.
