While major companies have greatly highlighted “smart manufacturing” visions in recent years, the incessant upgrading of communication technologies, continuous progress of software and hardware products, and gradual maturing of cloud services have combined to gradually materialize the visions, making them no longer just slogans.

Nevertheless, smart manufacturing is not just an upgrade of production efficiency, it’s more of a transformation of management concept. Moreover, it’s not only a purely hardware renovation, but also incorporates the upgrade of software, such as utilizing marginal computing technology to boost the efficacy and processing capability of hardware, and applying data processing and AI analysis software tools to conduct data screening and optimization. Accordingly, the integration of software and hardware is even more important in the manufacturing field.

This year, Smart Manufacturing & Monitech and Touch Taiwan (Display International) will be simultaneously held on Sept. 20-22 as Taiwan’s only professional exhibition event associated with a variety of advanced technologies. In addition to showcasing the display industry supply chains, the event will also feature exhibits covering optoelectronics, semiconductor, smart production, automation, robots, materials and components, machine vision, and electronics manufacturing equipment, while incorporating OLED applications, commercial displays, digital signage, public displays, industrial displays, wearable displays and vehicle displays as well. Through the arrangement of exhibits, international forums and business-matching meetings, the shows will help Taiwan’s industries accelerate their upgrading and build international linkages, thus creating comprehensive value chains of smart manufacturing industries.

In line with the world’s most influential exhibitions, the Taiwan Electronic Equipment Industry Association (TEEIA) will host the Smart Manufacturing Forum 2017 on Sept. 21 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. Heavyweight industrial experts from leading domestic companies well experienced in smart manufacturing, such as AU Optronics Corp., Manz Taiwan, Chroma ATE Inc., and Qisda Corp. have been invited to speak at the forum. They will shed light on future smart manufacturing trends, corporate cultivation of smart manufacturing talents, and strategies for promoting smart production of high-generation display panels, aiming to help consolidate Taiwan’s pivotal position in the global supply chains of manufacturing industries and spawn the development of all the related industries. During the exhibition period, a series of significant activities will also be held, including, particularly, the Micro LED Display Conference 2017. Hosted by Taiwan Display Union Association (TDUA), the conference will also take place September 21 on the 4^th floor of Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. Micro LED technology, led by high-tech giants Apple and Sony, is expected to alter the technological scenario of the display industry in its capacity as another “next-generation display technology” after OLED.
