Hi-tech Smart Production Driving Taiwan to Regain Manufacturing Momentum

In the face of volatile business environments around the world, how Taiwan can do to upgrade and transform all its industries is an increasingly pressing issue to address. Indeed, how to make plants become intelligent, whether through smart production, big data analysis, and Internet of Things (IoT), or through artificial and integration of clicks and mortar, has become an essential task for every corporate entity.

Touch Taiwan (Display International) 2017 and Smart Manufacturing & Monitech Taiwan 2017 will run in tandem on Sept. 20-22 as Taiwan’s unique grand event  associated with ICT, Semiconductor and display industries. In addition to wide-ranging exhibits concerning the display industry supply chains, such as optoelectronics, semiconductor, smart production, automation, robots, materials and components, machine vision, and electronics manufacturing equipment, the shows will also incorporate related application fields, including OLED applications, commercial displays, digital signage, public displays, industrial displays, wearable displays, and vehicle displays. Through the arrangement of exhibits, international forums and business matchmaking meetings, the fairs will help Taiwan’s industries accelerate their upgrading and build international connections, thus creating comprehensive value chains of smart manufacturing industries.

Taiwan’s industrial upgrading involves two key points. One is that high-tech smart manufacturing experiences should serve as crucial momentum for driving the upgrading of traditional industries. The other is that traditional industries should actively tap into the supply chains of high-tech industries to pave the way for their upgrading and market risk diversification. Taiwan’s electronics equipment makers are among a few domestic enterprises with high-tech smart production capabilities, and particularly, only through close cooperation between equipment makers and parts and components supply chains can cooperation platforms be established and common concepts be developed to jointly grab business opportunities.   

To promote industrial upgrading and transformation, the world’s most influential trade event will host the 2017 New-generation Smart Production Summit Forum on Sept. 21, when heavyweight industrial players noted for having abundant smart manufacturing experiences, such as AU Optronics, Manz Taiwan, Chroma ATE, and Qisda will be invited to deliver keynote speeches and shed light on future industry and market trends and cultivation of smart production talents. This will effectively promote development strategies for smart production of high-generation TFT-LCD panels and spawn the development of various industries, thereby eventually helping to build up Taiwan’s pivotal position in the supply chains of the global manufacturing sector.
