Characteristic
The Dominikanerberg is the monopoly site of our family winery and the highest vineyard in the Ruwer Valley, with barren, blue slate soils. The Dominikanerberg is a 6-hectare site completely surrounded by forest and meadows: perfect conditions for biodynamic cultivation. Our Shropshire sheep live in this vineyard for six months of the year.

The 2018 vintage was characterized by a warm, yet generally moderate climate with plenty of sunshine. Ample water reserves in the soil ensured balanced growing conditions. The result is harmonious, balanced wines with structure, ripe fruit, and a good body. Particularly on the Ruwer River, the wines from the 2018 vintage also display wonderful vibrancy.
This Riesling Auslese from our high-altitude Dominikanerberg monopoly vineyard combines the power of the warm 2018 vintage with the cool elegance of the Ruwer River. The barren, blue slate soil produces a Riesling of impressive density and juiciness, carried by ripe yellow fruit, delicate spice, and vibrant acidity. This Auslese displays opulent fruitiness—apricot, candied citrus, and a hint of honey—while remaining precise, straightforward, and minerally. Culinary accompaniment, it is an ideal accompaniment to goose liver, fruit-flavored game terrine, mature blue cheese, or even sweet desserts like tarte tatin or a classic crème brûlée. A great wine with great aging potential.
