Founder – Masayuki Nagasawa Masayuki Nagasawa was born in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. After graduating from high school, he joined the Japan Western Tableware Industry Association, working in stainless steel import and export. Later, he joined a Western tableware manufacturer, gaining 23 years of experience and developing a strong interest in coloring techniques. Driven by the vision to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics, he explored ways to merge Tsubame’s renowned tableware quality with advanced coloring technology. This led to a collaboration with a coloring company in Takaoka City and the founding of Artisan Co., Ltd., marking the beginning of his independent business. About Artisan Artisan is based in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture—an area famous throughout Japan for its long-standing tradition of metalworking. We blend traditional craftsmanship with modern design, creating what we call “a third kind of value.” This “third value” is more than a combination of technique and appearance. It represents the fusion of tradition ✕ modernity, transforming cultural craftsmanship into contemporary design. It’s not just about making products; it’s about expressing a way of thinking—a dialogue between heritage and innovation.
