Characteristic

The "Alte Lay" single vineyard—characterized by a striking rocky outcrop—is defined primarily by weathered slate and loamy greywacke soils. This VDP.Grosses Gewächs® is the result of rigorous yield reduction combined with meticulous cellar work. Impressive aromas of cherry and wild berries stand out immediately. These primary aromas are accompanied by a variety of fresh herbs, underscored by taut acidity and harmoniously integrated tannins. The finish, with its elegant, saline, and finely spiced character, lingers long on the palate.
