To enhance its competitiveness in the international market, Chi Mei began product and market segmentation in the 1990s, moving towards standardized modular design and production, strengthening environmental protection and energy-saving features. To upgrade its technology, it has repeatedly collaborated with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) to develop high-performance equipment and components that meet international market demands. It has also received multiple grants from the Ministry of Economic Affairs (CITD, SBIR) Industrial Innovation Program to upgrade its equipment.

For example, its high-speed fully automatic BOPP/cellophane packaging machine uses a mechanical cam drive system, ensuring accurate and efficient packaging. It features a quick adjustment system that allows for rapid length and width adjustments to accommodate different packaging dimensions. Furthermore, it can integrate with the feeding and discharging systems to create a fully automated production line, thereby saving manpower and increasing productivity. This equipment is suitable for packaging materials such as BOPP (OPP), KOP, cellophane, and heat-sealable film. It is also suitable for various CD/DVD cases, playing cards, cigarette cases, health food boxes, medicine boxes, condom boxes, cosmetic boxes, perfume boxes, candy/chocolate boxes, biscuit boxes, and sticky notes for outer film packaging. Another fully automatic blister packaging machine can be used for food packaging, medical device packaging, electronic packaging, and daily necessities packaging. This equipment has won the "9th Innovation Research Award" from the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
