Because I Love Coffee, I Want to Make It Better | YU Jian Coffee Receives Three Stars at the 2026 CSG Coffee Star Rating
Running YU Jian Coffee as a one-person café means there are always new things to learn and challenges to work through on my own. Coffee roasting, however, has always been something I truly enjoy and want to continue improving.
For this competition, I chose a coffee I personally love: Ethiopia Guji Uraga Suke Heirloom G1 Natural, and submitted it to the 2026 CSG Coffee Star Rating organized by Coffee Hong Hong Hong.
My reason for entering was quite simple. I wanted to find out whether the flavors I enjoy in a coffee, when expressed through my own roasting approach, could also earn the recognition of professional judges.
I also saw this evaluation as an opportunity to take a fresh look at my roasting work, identify areas where I could improve, and discover what adjustments might help me move forward.
For a small café run by just one person, this recognition means a great deal. It reminds me that something I have always loved and worked hard at can also receive professional recognition.
Of course, receiving this recognition does not mean I can stop here. There are still many coffees to discover and many details in roasting that I need to keep learning about and refining.
I would like to thank Coffee Hong Hong Hong for providing this opportunity, as well as the judges for their recognition. Every competition and evaluation is a valuable learning experience that helps me continue to grow.
Moving forward, I will continue making the coffee I love, roasting each batch with care, and gradually building on my experience. Most importantly, I hope to share these wonderful coffee flavors with everyone who visits YU Jian Coffee.
