Exhibitor Profile

 

Maoweiki Distillery was established in 2022 in Nankan, Luzhu District, Taoyuan City, Taiwan, with an altitude of about 160 to 180 meters. In the early years, it was named because its terrain resembled the curled tail of a lazy cat. It is adjacent to the tributary of Nankan River in the west, with moderate temperature and humidity. The local terrain creates a natural processing environment with favorable wind and rain, and it is also a famous tea producing area. The owner, Howard, is also the operator of the "Hotel Kuva chateau " in Taoyuan. In 2017, he established the " KUVA Whisky ", which brings together world-renowned brands of whiskey, like a small whiskey museum. At the same time, single-glass whiskey tasting service is also provided on site. Although it was established not long ago, it has already begun to gain recognition in international competitions. The "New Pot" distilled in 2023 won three gold medals at the 2024 British WWA World Whisky Awards. It is also currently working with small farmers in Taiwan to try to make whiskey using local barley grown in Taiwan. Taiwan’s climate and water quality are different from other whisky producing regions, and we hope to incorporate these elements into our whisky to create a unique Taiwanese flavor.
