Characteristic

 

At the foot of Hunawihr&#39;s famous fortified church, the Mittnacht family has made wine for three generations. In 2019 the two brothers went their separate ways, and Christophe founded Domaine Christophe Mittnacht, Terres d&#39;&#201;toiles. Carrying on the family&#39;s eco-friendly approach, he works precisely with neutral oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, seeking terroir expression and balance. His wines show the purity, finesse and floral character of Alsace whites.<br/><br/>This wine is made by the traditional method. The first fermentation takes place in tank. After filtration, the wine receives the liqueur de tirage and goes through a second fermentation in bottle, then ages on its lees for about 12 months. It is then disgorged and finished with the dosage (liqueur d&#39;exp&#233;dition), which gives it fine bubbles and a soft, gentle texture.<br/><br/>The style is fresh and elegant, with orchard fruit aromas of citrus, apple and pear, a light floral touch and ripe fruit notes. On the palate the bubbles are fine and the texture is light and pleasant. Ripe, lively acidity adds energy and blends with the generous fruit, for a crisp, balanced and charming wine.
