Many people ask me, “Why did you decide to open a coffee shop that roasts its own beans?”

The answer is simple: I love drinking coffee.

What truly gave me the courage to take this step was a car accident that changed my life. After losing one leg, I had to learn to get around with a prosthetic leg, and everyday life became more challenging.
 

But I often remind myself that although I may be missing a leg, I still have both hands and the ability to do what I love.

So why not give it a try?

And that was how YU Café came to be.

Learning and Growing, One Step at a Time

Running a café on my own is not easy. From roasting coffee beans to handling the many daily tasks of the shop, I have had to learn and find my own way step by step.

Over the years, I have continued taking relevant courses, earning certifications, and gaining experience through coffee roasting competitions and star-rating evaluations. Along the way, I have also received several meaningful recognitions:

• 2024: Ranked among the top 10% twice in CoffeeBoomBoomBoom.

• 2025: Second place in the third round of the Gangdu Coffee Roasting Exchange Competition; awarded two stars twice in the Coffee Star Grading evaluation.

• 2026: Second place in the second round of CoffeeBoomBoomBoom; awarded three stars in the Coffee Star Grading evaluation.

Every recognition encourages me to keep learning, improving, and moving forward.

Simply, Making the Coffee I Love

I am not trying to prove anything. I simply want to make the coffee I love as good as I can.

Life sometimes takes us in unexpected directions, but as long as we still have the ability, we should keep doing what we love.

This is how YU Café began, and it is the reason I want to keep moving forward.
