Vietnam export more than 7.3 billion of wood-product in the first eight months

Vietnam exported more than 7.3 billion US dollars of wood and wood-based products in the first eight months of this year, up 9.6 per cent against the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Administration of Forestry on Monday.
Major export markets of Vietnamese wood and wood-based products in the eight-month period included China, the European Union, Japan, the United States and South Korea.
In August alone, the country reaped nearly $1.2 billion from exporting wood and wood-based products, surging 21.7 per cent on-year.
Vietnam aims to gain $12.5 billion from exporting wood and wood-based products in 2020, according to a recent report by daily newspaper Lao Dong (Labor), which cited data from the administration.
Between January and August, Vietnam spent over 1.5 billion to import wood and wood-based products, posting a decline of 8.8 per cent on-year, according to the administration.
The country earned $10.5 billion from exporting wood and woodwork in 2019, up 18.2 per cent on-year with its biggest markets being the United States, Japan and China.
