Ricca Terra is composed of ten independent vineyards spanning 70 hectares in Barmera, South Australia. Originally cultivated by returning soldiers after World War I and II, some of these historic soldier-tended vineyards still thrive today, forming an essential part of Ricca Terra’s heritage and legacy. <br/><br/>The warm, dry climate of Barmera means vineyards in the Riverland region rely on irrigation from the Murray River. Ricca Terra focuses on Mediterranean grape varieties such as Nero d’Avola, Montepulciano, Tinta Barroca, and Vermentino. By utilizing drought-resistant rootstocks, water-efficient mulching, and sustainable viticulture practices, the winery ensures vines can flourish in arid conditions while minimizing irrigation needs. <br/><br/>This environmentally conscious approach, combined with minimal intervention techniques, allows Ricca Terra to produce high-quality wines with a lower environmental impact. By selecting grape varieties suited to the climate, the winery remains dedicated to sustainable agriculture and its vision of creating some of Australia’s finest vineyards.
