Characteristic
Doi Tung from the northern part of Thailand, bordering Myanmar and Laos. Ethnic minorities who were ignored by any government made a living by cultivating opium. The forests in this area were destroyed to cultivate opium. In 1972, the Mae Fah Luang Foundation, established by Queen Srinakarin, mother of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, to help the poor, launched the "Doi Tung Development Project" in 1988 to address the issue. They employed ethnic minority men in a reforestation project to restore the forests, and later began cultivating macadamia nuts and shade-growing coffee. A unique flavor that evokes a rich taste. It has a mellow and rich taste, and the sweetness reminiscent of dried fruit lingers on the palate, giving it a sense of depth.
