In 1930, the SL28 coffee fruit was developed at the Scott Agricultural Laboratories in Kenya during the British colonial period. This variety, known for its wonderful aroma, spread throughout the British colonies but eventually disappeared due to the dominance of other high-yield and disease-resistant hybrid coffee beans. It features a sweet citrus acidity and aroma, combined with a transparent, sweet fruitiness, stimulating notes, and caramel undertones. In January 2018, Mr. Kawashima collaborated with the LAS LAJAS estate in Costa Rica, successfully reviving the perfect essence of this classic coffee variety. It retains the sweet citrus acidity and aroma, along with the transparent sweetness and fruity flavors, accompanied by stimulating and caramel notes.
