Dominique purchased the vineyard in 1989, and the estate has a long history in the region, with the castle originally built in the 1600s. Dominique also owns another estate in the Puisseguin-St.-Emilion area (Château Haut-Bernat), which he acquired in 1991. In 2015, Dominique hired Thomas Duclos to manage the vineyards and provide winemaking consultancy.

**Terroir and Vinification:**
The Côte Montpezat vineyards span 30 hectares, planting 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The average age of the vines is 30 years, with a planting density of about 5,500 plants per hectare, situated on clay and limestone soils. The vinification occurs in stainless steel tanks, with malolactic fermentation taking place in oak barrels. The estate uses 30% new French oak barrels, as well as some American oak barrels. The average annual production of this wine is about 6,000 cases.

**Wine Quality:**
The wine features aromas of black fruits (such as blackcurrants and black plums), complemented by hints of tobacco, licorice, and roasted notes. The elegant woodsy undertones reveal a smooth and refined finish.

**Serving Temperature:** 18°C
**Food Pairing:** Smoked ham platter, grilled beef short ribs.
